Myles Garrett wants out, but the Cleveland Browns are digging their own grave

Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, seeking a genuine chance at a Super Bowl. The Browns are refusing, leading to potential escalating tensions. Betting odds favor the Philadelphia Eagles, with a proposed significant trade offering numerous draft picks for Garrett.

Myles Garrett wants out. After eight seasons with the Cleveland Browns, the four-time All-Pro and 2023 Defensive Player of the Year has formally requested a trade. Not for money. Not for personal reasons. He wants a real shot at a Super Bowl.
The problem? Cleveland isn’t interested. They don’t want to lose their best player, and they’re making that clear. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, this standoff could get “very, very ugly.”
Garrett’s name is already dominating betting markets. The Philadelphia Eagles are listed as the favorites at +200, with the Washington Commanders (+300), Buffalo Bills (+1200), and Detroit Lions (+1200) in the mix. But as of now, the Cleveland Browns (EVEN) are refusing to let him go.
There’s a difference between wanting a trade and actually forcing one. So far, Garrett hasn’t gone nuclear. He isn’t holding out. He isn’t skipping workouts. But if this drags into training camp, it could get messy fast.

Cleveland Browns are holding Myles Garrett hostage, and it's only a matter of time before something breaks

The Browns can say they won’t trade Garrett all they want. Reality doesn’t care. Players like him don’t just hit the market. And when they do, teams pay up.
"This is a text I got last week, 'Myles is not open to discussing a contract extension with Cleveland. This has nothing to do with money. He wants to go win, and he wants to go to a place he feels he has a shot at doing that immediately,’" Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show.
That’s not someone looking for a raise. That’s someone done with waiting.
But the Browns? They’re standing their ground. They won’t trade him. They’ll make him play out his contract. That’s the stance. For now.
The front office knows what this means. The moment Garrett makes this a problem—if he skips camp, refuses to play, or does anything that forces their hand—this situation flips. The trade market explodes. Offers roll in. The price goes up.

Philadelphia Eagles are built for moves like this, and if they land Myles Garrett, it's game over

If the Browns finally crack, Myles Garrett isn’t going to just any team. He’s going to a contender. That’s the entire point. And there’s one team better at landing stars than anyone else: the Philadelphia Eagles.
Cody Williams of FanSided proposed a blockbuster trade sending Garrett to Philadelphia. The deal?
  • Cleveland Browns receive:

    • 2025 first-round pick (No. 32 overall)
    • 2026 first-round pick
    • 2026 fourth-round pick
    • 2027 third-round pick
  • Philadelphia Eagles receive:

    • Myles Garrett
    • 2026 third-round pick
That’s an insane haul. And if Howie Roseman pulls it off, it’s another masterclass in front-office work.
Philadelphia’s defensive front is already elite. Adding Garrett? That’s unfair. That’s Super Bowl or bust.
The Browns can fight this. They can say no. They can dig in. But history says they won’t win this battle. Garrett wants out. Teams want him. Eventually, something has to give.
