HC seeks report on revised LT grade exam answer key
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand high court (HC) is hearing multiple petitions challenging the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission's (UKSSSC) revised answer key for the recruitment of 1,341 assistant teacher LT grade posts. A single bench of Justice Ravindra Maithani has taken a serious view of the matter and extended the stay on the revised answer key.
The court directed Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Central University and the CBSE secretary to form a committee of subject experts to verify answers to seven disputed questions. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for May 23.
During the hearing, the court asked the commission's secretary, who appeared via video conferencing, to assist in clarifying the rationale behind the revised answer key. The commission was also questioned about whether the questions aligned with the syllabus but failed to provide satisfactory responses. A total of 13 questions have been contested.
The UKSSSC had notified vacancies for assistant teacher LT grade posts and conducted the written examination in Aug 2024. The selection process is being held for 1,544 posts. After the exam, the commission initially uploaded the answer key, later revised it, and invited objections.
Petitioners, including Naveen Singh Aswal, Deepika Ramola and Priyanka, alleged that several correct answers were wrongly marked incorrect in the revised key, adversely affecting their results. They argued that the commission made arbitrary changes without proper justification and failed to ensure the accuracy of questions and answers during the setting process.
