Nashik: The Nashik police have launched an investigation into a recent public gathering where an unidentified individual was seen displaying a poster of gangster
Lawrence Bishnoi.
The incident, which was captured in a video, took place on Wednesday during an address by MLC and former minister Gopichand Padalkar in the CIDCO area. Padalkar was speaking at the gathering when the poster was reportedly displayed.
A police officer, while talking to TOI, said, "We have so far not received any complaint regarding the incident. The person who waved the poster is yet to be identified. We are trying to identify and locate the person, based on which a report will be filed and further action will be taken based on the directives from senior officers."
Later, while speaking to the reporters in Pune, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said Padalkar had called him on Thursday morning and informed about the incident.
"I have told Padalkar to speak to the police and ensure action is taken against those who waved the poster at the gathering. We will not tolerate glorification of criminal elements like Bishnoi in Maharashtra," he said.
